Edmonds Community College - Brier Hall Remodel & Bookstore/Student Center

— Construct new bookstore in Lynnwood, Washington, 2007-2008

In our 2nd project for the State of Washington, we will construct a 28,000 SF addition to the Bookstore/Student Center at Edmonds Community College.

The building will be a 3 story structure incorporating a steel and concrete structural foundation. Metal roofing will be applied and the exterior will be a combination of brick veneer, metal wall panels and stucco plaster. In addition, we will demo and remodel approximately 18,000 SF of Brier Hall. The new areas will include science labs, dining halls and a kitchen.

This project has staged turnover dates with a final completion scheduled for October, 2008.



Yuut Elitnaurviat, Inc. - Training, Education, and Support Services (TESS) Building

— Shell and Core building in Bethel, Alaska, 2007

This project consists of construction of a shell and core for a three story building with a 4th story mechanical floor. The facility will be a new adult vocational education classroom.

The building is wood framed on existing steel piling with metal standing seam roofing, metal siding, vinyl windows, hollow metal doors and frames and supporting mechanical and electrical equipment. Logistics of the job included utilizing existing on-site materials purchased and stored by the owner.

The project achieved Substantial Completion in October, 2007.



9th Street Housing Utilities Upgrade

— Reconstruct existing utility vaults at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska, 2006

TBI provided construction management services during the removal and upgrade of 3,100 lineal feet of underground utility pipes during the summer of 2006.

Work included trenching to expose the existing concrete structure, removal of all lids, remediation of hazardous materials and the upgrading of the water, sewer, steam and condensate piping for capacity and wear. Closing steps consisted of insulating, reinstalling lids and re-sealing the vaults.

Site work consisted of trenching, grading & smoothing the site for appearance. Other work included replacement of sidewalks, asphalt roadways and hydro-seeding areas damaged during demolition.

The project achieved Substantial Completion in October, 2006.



Olympic College - Bremer Student Center / Bookstore reconstruction

— Remodel existing bookstore in Bremerton, Washington, 2006

The project included selective demolition of the existing structure, construction included the bookstore addition and a new student center entry. The building structure was a combination of glu-lam post and beams, wood stick framed walls, and a structural steel entry. Exterior finishes included masonry brick to match existing building, custom metal insulated panels, pre-cast concrete panels, and an aluminum storefront entry.

Roofing included insulated panels and metal pan decking. Roofing finishes involved a combination of metal panels, SBS modified bituminous membrane, and replacement/tie-in of existing roofing tiles. A pyramid shaped skylight 18’x18’ tops the roof above a beautiful glu-lam truss system. Roof top mounted HVAC air handlers were concealed behind architectural rooftop equipment screens.

Interior finishes included curved pre-cast concrete steps, carpet tiles, ceramic tiles, wood floors, custom architectural color schemes, and sliding security gates. Curved architectural soffits highlight the open two-story entry.

The culinary school enjoyed an upgrade to their Fireside Bistro. Substantial completion in October 2006.



Commercial office space - Tenant Improvement projects

— Anchorage, Alaska, 2005 - 2006

TBI performed commercial office space tenant improvement work on approximately 100,000 square feet of unimproved space. This work was based in Anchorage for private businesses and consisted of metal stud framing, drywall, installation of special interior glazing, solid core wood doors, cabinetry, carpet and finishes. All projects were under tight time constraints and completed on schedule.



Structural repair / reconstruction

— "Wave" Commercial building, Anchorage, Alaska, 2004

TBI performed the reconstruction of a commercial building in Anchorage for a private business. The work included structural steel beam replacement, slab-jacking, concrete repair and removal of a 10,000 square foot freezer system.



Lower Kuskokwim School District ADA Upgrades

— 23 Schools in the Kuskokwim Delta Region, Alaska, 2004

TBI was awarded a contract to upgrade twenty-three schools in twenty different locations to meet current ADA code requirements. The work consisted of restroom reconfiguration, door and hardware upgrades, and ramp and handrail rework. Due to the age of some of the buildings, some asbestos abatement was required. The project started in January 2004 and achieved substantial completion in October 2004.



ANTHC Bragaw Street - Renovation

— Anchorage, Alaska, 2002

TBI did major renovations on a 24,000+ square foot interior office for the Alaska Native Tribal Health Corporation. This was a 90-day project which required the 2nd and 3rd floors and a majority of the basement go from an empty shell to finished offices. The roof top HVAC was also replaced, which required mobilizing a large crane to make the switch from the old to the new unit. Difficulties with the electrical subcontractor complicated the completion schedule, but did not prevent the owner from occupying the building on time.



Norton Sound Seafood Center

— Nome Alaska, 2001 - 2002

TBI constructed a 7,600 square foot pre-engineered steel structure complete with processing lines and a flash freezer for crab and halibut. The building also included offices and a retail sales area. Due to the owner’s requirement, the freezing and processing lines had to be modified, and the related equipment flown in. The plant still opened in time for fishing season.
